Song for the end of summer

The stream had almost dried up
It was usually a babbling brook
Yet the days were so long
And I could hear this new song
Sung by the rocks and the fishes
Summer had granted all my wishes
Yet as the nights drew in
I felt my heart sing

Autumn will be here soon enough
Because it’s raining lint and fluff
A nice jumper to pullover my head
Some actual darkness so I can stay in bed
All I want is for you to be free
And to light the fire inside of me
I need some warming food
To keep us in this mood

Treacle and pumpkin
Ginger and spice
Roast potato with herbs
A sweetness so nice
